New Elm Farm is dedicated to agricultural research, testing and experimentation for farmers with a climate and soils similar to Maine. This direction was inspired by a world traveled soil scientist, who said to us:
"in the future New Englanders will have to start growing most of there own food, since the soils are nearly depleted and mostly polluted in the regions from which we import."
To accomplish this mission, our focus will be in the following areas:

  • Hydronic wood and solar heating systems for greenhouse production
  • Organic composting disease resistant growing methods within those greenhouses and surrounding fields.
  • A new form of all electric labor reducing tractor using a new navigation and GIS technology, called the Turtle Tractor.

The Time Machine is the farm's R&D facility.
